A remote solution for one of the world’s largest fishing facilities

Customer Case: Belsvik Elektro and Lerøy Midt

In Belsvika, about 20 kilometers from the center of Kyrksæterøra in Norway, you will find one of the world’s largest fishing facility for Lerøy Midt. You will also find that all the electrical installations in the construction are designed and run by Belsvik Elektro AS. They won the assignment in competition with several large electrical companies and it truly was a job where they were put to the test.

Fish farms and aquaculture have always been the main business for the Norwegian company Belsvik Elektro AS. With very specific and high requirements from authorities, Belsvik see to it that the electronics are set up and running for logging important parameters at the logging stations for hydrological measuring. And in this day and age – a sustainable solution is required for just about any and every professional job.

Efficient and reliable solution

At the fish facility plants it is important to keep track of parameters like water level, water flow, temperature etc. AddSecure’s solution enables reliable remote monitoring of such parameters through the mobile network. The required data from the stations are transmitted to and recorded in Belsvik’s SCADA system, making sure it is immediately accessible to authorized personnel. When certain threshold values are reached, alarms are sent to the fish farm operators. In addition to this, some of the stations have camera surveillance, transmitting video over the mobile network with the help of AddSecure.

Remote connections and troubleshooting

Instruments and solar power systems at the measuring stations require inspection and maintenance. The system allows the technician to log on, check status and troubleshoot before actually travelling to the station. Belsvik can also do remote configuration of their devices. All communications run in virtual private networks (VPN), keeping the network isolated from other internet traffic and closed for unauthorized users and devices. Furthermore, the web portal Link Manager gives Belsvik all the tools necessary to establish and manage their networks and remote connections.
